I really hate the newer version and I have forgone updates on it for several years. I really don't want to reformat this drive to work with time machine as my non-mac computers will not be able to use it. I have read on several sites that upgrading the OS could lead to lower performance and slower loading times on the older laptops? Is this a myth?Īdditionally is there any other information I should know about before upgrading? Right now I have a backup drive with my pictures, files and music on it. Since 10.9 is free it seems like the go to option. ![]() Today I have discovered many of the applications I have grown to enjoy no longer function on 10.6 and require 10.7 or higher. My current OSX is 10.6.8 and until recently have never really considered upgrading. I currently own a 15" mid 2009 Macbook pro.
